Rotary Club’s Impact on Education & Health

Introduction

Rotary’s mission and purpose

The Rotary Club continues to play a vital role in addressing key social issues, including education, literacy, and healthcare. In a recent meeting, Dr. Samyukta Bista Karki delivered an insightful presentation on the growing diabetes crisis in Nepal, where over 29.7 million people are at risk, and 8.5% suffer from the disease. She highlighted the severe consequences of undiagnosed diabetes, particularly kidney diseases and blindness, which place a significant financial burden on families and communities. Organizations like the Drishti Eye Foundation, where Dr. Karki works as a consultant, are striving to provide affordable and accessible healthcare solutions to those in need.

Alongside healthcare, the Rotary Club remains dedicated to education and literacy, as reflected in its ongoing programs. Schools are actively engaging in initiatives like U-Turn the Wheel, promoting awareness and social responsibility among students. The club also discussed regionalization efforts and future projects to expand its reach. These initiatives highlight the Rotary Club’s unwavering commitment to creating a better, healthier, and more educated society.
